Qualifying for a plan is not a thing for medical under ACA. Preexisting conditions are gone, as are lifetime limits.

Dental insurance still has waiting periods and exclusions. Dental plans are essentially glorified coupons. They function inversely from medical in that they run out of a benefit rather than max out. You have to have a very specific amount of work done to have them be worth it.
