It’s boils down to equity, equality, and fairness.

If you have 20 people who want cars and 10 cars who should get them. 1. First come first served, as you can imagine has its pros and cons, scalpers / flippers come to mind 2. A random drawing (weird?) 3. Who wants it more? Is this fair to the person who makes less money, no not at all but if both equally need a car it’s the fairest way possible.
