I grew up around scientists. If you break a scientist's arm, they will not snitch nor complain too much, especially because they tend to have very good health insurance. But if they die on your boat that's out of their hands and you're getting sued for negligence. It's a small chance, sure, but following best practices and thereby covering your ass costs very little as well.

We'll see your character when you get somebody seriously hurt because you wanted the boat to look cool. You've had an incredible run of luck with nobody getting injured in any of the videos I've seen, but the cavalier attitude toward safety you've developed as a result won't look good when you get sued. Which will happen when some researcher using their newfound access to an affordable vessel does something stupid and their institution comes knocking.
