That's very likely, they probably just don't have an understanding of Reddit. Their PR manager just says "hey, there's this thing, a bunch of random people ask questions, you answer. It's comment threads, like the comments on YouTube videos. I can just take care of it for you". He probably won't even hear about how horrible it went.
