This. You don’t have to incorporate to do business. Here in Michigan you can simply fill out a “dba” (“doing business as”) form, but it’s not necessary if you use your last name in the business name, I think. However, the law is different in every state - California being a real pain if you actually incorporate.

I've paid for my own insurance for 30 years. Before ACA, our deductible was $300 (per person, $600 family). Now it's $6000 ($12,000 family). Our rates would have doubled in three years if we kept the same policy - we had to downgrade to one costing $1600/month - and still pay 50% more than before.

Beware cherry-picked statistics on how affordable health insurance is. The insurance is not affordable unless you're young or qualify for subsidies, the deductibles are out of control, and while some things are covered that weren't before, the opposite is also true.

Even after we paid nearly $30,000 last year for insurance plus deductibles, many other things weren't covered and were billed separately.

On the plus side, the Republicans will likely make things even worse. <sigh>
