Thank you very much for your response. I am nervous and excited. Fortunately in regards to music it will only be one ear so if need be I can always take it off for a short time and listen with my meat ear. Hopefully when the time comes to upgrade my installed part will be up to the task.

The article points out that the average squad of riflemen generally consists of young men in their late teens/early 20s. In that environment they are able to be gross, crass, raunchy... dude's, which helps foster the comraderie and brotherhood which helps make them such an effective fighting unit.

According to the author adding women to the mix would add a score of complications that would undermine that effectiveness. Namely, if you put a young fit woman in a group of a bunch of testosterone focused dudes, there are going to be distractions. Be it guys who just can't deal with having a woman around, possible love triangles, pregnancy, sexual assault, and a whole host of other issues.

I am getting a cochlear implant tomorrow. I have been "warned" numerous times that things will sound very different due to the acoustic vs electric input. Do you think a day will come where the technology is at a point to provide a more natural sound?
