How did you go about getting your training/certification?

Where do you work, and do you get paid? What do you think is the starting salary for an EMT?

I really want to get certified and make it a career for myself.

I really liked you on Southland... I wish that show had a few more seasons, it was really very good and different from a typical "cop show".

Any interesting stories from the set there?

Did you ever go on a ride along with a cop, or see the crime/violence firsthand?

What's it like working with Michael Cudlitz?

Thanks for the advice.... 8-10$ seems lower then I was expecting, was hoping it would be more like 12$/hr, but I guess there is overtime and stuff too right?

Also, another question.... do you remember your drug test? Do you know if they used a 5, 10, or 12 panel testing cup? Reason is that I take suboxone, or bupenorphine, and worried that it may come up on a drug test and I can't join. It's given to me by my doctor, but I don't wanna tell them about it.

I am planning to sign up thru my local fire department, get training, volunteer one night a week and work the rest as a paid EMT.

I am upset with the MH care in the US as well.... my sister has some serious MH issues, like depression and schizophrenic symptoms as well as alcohol problems, and it is impossible to find proper care for her. She is 26, no job, and on medicaid.... and we simply can't find a mental health hospital that will take her in.

Most clinics are actually rehabs with dual diagnosis (both MH and addiction), which would be fine but they only keep someone between 1-4 weeks. My sister needs long term care, like 3-6 months, but this has been impossible to find as no one will accept her insurance and any MH hospitals we find are all private pay. The state mental health hospitals have all been shut down, and the few that remain will only take patients that are ordered there thru the court (prob cause of violent behavior)..... so again impossible to get her in anywhere.

It is very frustrating that we can't find a place for her to go and get the help she needs, she is suffering and a totally different person then she was 10 years ago, constantly getting into trouble. The MH association for our county is no help either, just people trying to pass you off to someone else and providing no real help except the few short term rehabs we have already looked into. I wish they would do something about this.
