I'm so glad that playing a wind instrument has provided you with help and enjoyment! I'm a brass player who had a go on my friend's alto sax and found it nigh on impossible to play, going to look up your recital later :)

I think that a lot of people would be interested to read a book about your journey! Best of luck with the rest of your trip and whatever you decide to do in the future.

Nah. Mahler calls for a German tenor horn which looks like a Wagner tuna. It is similar in sound to a baritone horn, which is smaller than a euphonium but bigger than a UK tenor horn (UK tenor horn = US alto horn).

(Mahler 7's my favourite of his symphonies, did a 45 min presentation on it in my undergrad so am sure of this info!)

There was an article on front page a few days ago about whether blind people who recovered their vision visualised shapes in the same way as sighted people do. It was shown that they couldn't recognise shapes purely by eye.

A girl I went to school with decided to become a vegetarian at aged 12 and a few years later switched to veganism. We were on a summer course and she was served a vegan-friendly meal but ended up having an allergic reaction to it: the course staff had forgotten to tell the restaurant that she was allergic to soy.

The next day when we went in for dinner, she was served up with a bowl of raw sliced peppers.
